Merged client/server applications include an option that allows you to automatically update client applications over the network each time a new version is built. This can be useful, for example, when you want to rebuild your application using an new release of 4D (ex. 11.6 to 11.7).

As of 4D v12, this feature can be used to automatically update clients using a 4D v11 SQL client to a client built with 4D v12.

Also, the "version" of the build does not need to be increased when you go to build the 4D v12 client application. When you build the 4D v12 version of the client/server application and have the "Allow automatic update of Windows/Macintosh client application" options checked, the clients will be able to get updated when they go to connect with their 4D v11 SQL built client application. This allows you to either keep incrementing your build numbers or to reset your builds number.
