Tech Tip: Selecting and editing multiple fields
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 11 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: May 21, 2010

In the structure editor, it is possible to select multiple fields for editing. When multiple fields are selected, the Inspector will display the properties that apply to all the selected fields and this allows for setting properties for all the selected fields at the same time.

For example, if you choose 2 alpha fields, you will be able to select an index type and it will be applied to both alpha fields, creating the same type of index for both fields. However, if you select an alpha field and an integer field, you will not be able to select an index type, since integer fields can not have indexes.

Another feature of note is the ability to select fields from multiple tables at the same time. To do this, you can hold down the Cmd (Mac OS) or Ctrl (Win OS) key and then click on each field in any table and they will all be selected.
