The ability to run PHP scripts in 4D v12 has opened up the possibility of using LDAP within a 4D application. LDAP is a widely used protocol for accessing "Directory Servers". The incorporation of LDAP servers into applications like Active directory makes LDAP particularly useful for doing things such as validating login credentials and looking up user information. This Technical Note covers what LDAP is and provides sample code to demonstrate using LDAP within 4D, including the most common use, which is setting up a shared password system.
