Tech Tip: New connectivity errors in 4D Client/Server
PRODUCT: 4D Server | VERSION: 11.6 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: July 26, 2010

In the past, when a client connection to 4D Server was lost it generally led to either a -10001 or -10002 error. Recently these messages have been updated:

  • Error heading: "The connection for this process has been disrupted or connection couldn't be established."

    • -10001: "The actual connection to the database has been disrupted."

    • -10002: "The connection for this process has been disrupted."

As before, these errors appear when the network connection between 4D Server and 4D Remote has been dropped due to various reasons: someone unplugged the network cable, a router has closed the connection, the network equipment is saturated, hardware failure, etc. A reason this may have been caused by 4D could be that the Client - Server connection timeout in the database preferences is set to too low of a value.
