Older workstations are often plagued by performance issues due users installing unknown components while installing a program. Examples of this for Internet Explorer are unwanted toolbars or plug-ins. A problem that could arise from the additional add-ons is performance degradation in Internet Explorer and Web Area.

One way to reduce potential conflicts with Web Area is to disable add-ons in Internet Explorer.

To disable add-ons in Internet Explorer, start by opening Internet Explorer 9 and go to the gear icon in the top right of the screen for settings (I8 users, go Tools menu), then select Manage Add-ons. A list will appear of all add-ons installed for Internet Explorer, select the unneeded add-ons and disable.
