The tech tip Using 4DIC 12.1 to send email via Gmail explains how to use the 4D Internet Commands plugin to send e-mails using a Gmail account. For standard accounts this works very well. However if the Gmail account being used has 2-Step verification enabled an additional step will be required.
For information on Googles 2-Step verification follow this link: Google Support
To use the code in from the Tech Tip to send e-mail first an application specific password must be requested from Google. Once the application specific password is generated it will be used in place of the standard password in the SMTP_AUTH method.
Google has provided a video describing the process of obtaining an application specific password. It can be viewed here: Application Specific Passwords
Doing this will allow 4D to send e-mails from a Gmail account while maintaining a high level of security for the account.
