4D has the ability to use an internal or external PHP interpreter. 4D maintains the internal PHP interpreter for executing PHP scripts and to quit the internal PHP interpreter. However, 4D does not have native commands to maintain the external PHP interpreter. This Technical Note covers techniques used to start, stop, and check the status of an external PHP interpreter from within 4D.
