4D continues to improve its SQL support by offering “Views” in version 14.Views can be thought of either as pre-built queries that are packaged as a table name, or as a “virtual table”. A view is created by executing a new command that takes a SQL query (e.g. a SELECT statement) and assigns it to a new virtual tablename. The virtual tablename can then be used by another SELECT statement as a “starting point” for that query. This paper introduces views and the value they provide both to the developer and the end user.
