A dashboard is a single screen that displays the most important information people needed to do a job. It is presented in a way that allows them to monitor what is going on in an instant. They can provide a unique and powerful means to present information. However, they often don't live up to their potential. Most dashboards fail to communicate efficiently and effectively, not because of lack of technology but because of poorly designed implementations. Dashboards can communicate great volumes of information only if those who implement them understand visual perception and apply those concepts with the way people see and think. See how Footprints uses rotating dashboards created in 4D to communicate project needs and monitor client server applications on an HDTV.

In this presentation we will look at what a dashboard is, how to get started in designing your own, look at some examples that others have come up with, and then show how Footprints uses dashboards to display our clients information so all employees can see what is important in our business.
