Tech Tip: Removing "Learned" words from the User Dictionary

When using the spellcheck tools users can add words to the "User Dictionary" so that when a spellcheck is performed it will acknowledge the word as a correct term. However mistakes happen and there may be the need to remove an accidentally added term.

In v14 this can be done with the new context menu setting for objects that can contain a text or a string.

First the setting in the property list must be set as shown below.


The 'Auto Spell' check property must be set for the spell check related choices to appear on the context menu. Then the spell check related options can be displayed by setting it through the context menu when contextually clicking the an object with the setting set as shown below.



Then from an object that can contain a text contextually click the word that needs to be removed and a context menu will appear. From the menu select 'Unlearn' as shown below.
