Tech Note: Working With the Spell Check System and Dictionary in 4Dv14

This technical note will provide more insight on the spell check system that 4D v14 employs. It will also provide an explanation on how to use and work with it. 4D v14 uses a new spell check dictionary system called Hunspell. This change from v13 affects many things in v14, from file naming format to certain methods of modifying the dictionary. This technical note will describe these changes and provide methods and techniques to use with the spell check system.

This Tech-Note fails to mention one critical point of information. If you intend to use Hunspell dictionaries that you install yourself on a Macintosh you MUST ALSO enable the Database Property Spellchecker with 1 (4D Hunspell spellcheck enabled) otherwise the native OS X spellchecker dictionaries will be used. This step is not necessary on Windows.
