4D’s Picture Operators have been around since the early versions of 4D and remain very powerful in the most recent versions of 4D. However, they were originally intended for black and white bitmap pictures. Since 4D v11, the way to do what the Picture Operators have done is to use the 4D commands COMBINE PICTURES and TRANSFORM PICTURES. These commands preserve the characteristics of each source picture in the resulting picture. To demonstrate the powerful use of these commands this Technical Note will provide an explanation of, examples of, and a 4D tool for the creation of CSS SPRITES for use in web pages.
