Tech Tip: Copy text from the 4D Explorer Preview area
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 15.1 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: March 16, 2016

How often does the need arrise to copy some code from one 4D method and paste it into another 4D method? The standard way is to open the method into a new window, scroll to the needed lines of code, highlight the lines of code, close the window and paste the code into the method being edited.

Depending on where the code to copy exists this can take quite a few steps. If the code exists in a Table form method, that means opening the form, getting into the form method, finding and copying the code, closing the form method, closing the form and finally pasting the code into the method being edited.

There is a more efficient way and it involved only one 4D design window -- the 4D Explorer->Methods Preview area!

Method code can be copied or drag and dropped from the Explorer->Methods Preview area to an open Method editor window. Shown in the images below is text being copied from the Explorer->Methods Preview area into a new Project method.
