With the introduction of 4D v14, the concept of Objects have been added to the 4D language (Object variable). This concept has been extended to fields in the database structure since 4D v15 was introduced. This brings to 4D, powerful flexibility & misused industry buzzwords. NoSQL & schemaless databases are misnomer’s that refer to a dynamic database structure. 4D Objects open your applications to design patterns that use this flexible structure to speed your development and simplify complex database structures. You even have the speed of full indexing too.

  • That’s great, but how we can use this feature efficiently?
  • How we can exploit the full power of this new type of field?
  • What’s the impact on the design of the database structure?
This breakout session will try to answer those questions through the same example using three different development patterns from a traditional relational database structure to a full object structure.
