It is always recommended that a database be deployed with a backup and recovery strategy. However, for a critical application that must run 24/7, a mirroring system or several emergency servers is the right solution. Since 4D v14 it has been possible to setup a logical mirror based on the following principles:
- A production server
- A second server that functions as a mirror
- Periodic updates to the mirror server from the production server
- The mirror server quickly picks up operational duties without losing data
4D v15 and its R-releases have introduced new possibilities and improvements to the mirroring feature. If you haven’t done so already, it’s really the right time to implement mirroring into your own solution. “Time is money,” as they say. Safeguarding the core systems with a reliable, 24/7 solution will be seen as truly valuable to any business.
In this session, you’ll learn in detail the principles of how mirroring works, illustrated through the use of Web services.
