Web and mobile applications can reach larger numbers of users over the internet than stand-alone desktop applications. More exposure brings more security risks. Developers have less control over web and mobile applications compared to desktop applications in general.

Applying group access control in a client application is not secure enough. 4D Mobile offers a group permission system on the server-side to protect unauthorized access of all resources including: data, methods, services, pages & folders. In addition, 4D Mobile also offers features such as extending classes and restricting data access programmatically.

In this session, I will introduce and demonstrate two main methods of 4D Mobile access control: using the built-in groups and permission system to control data access automatically and, using JavaScript Model API to control data access programmatically. Examples provided in this session will show how to properly setup access control in extended 4D Mobile application.
