Tech Tip: License or Privilege error using 4DIC with v16.0 4D Developer Preview 64-bit on Windows
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 16 | PLATFORM: Win
Published On: March 6, 2017
If you are using 4D Developer Preview 64-bit on Windows and attempt to execute a 4D Internet Commands plugin call you will get a License or privilege error like this:
It is important to note that this error has nothing to do with the license; it is being displayed because the 4D Internet Commands plugin is disabled in this version of the product.
This can be checked from the Explorer window under the Plugins section:
There are two solution for this:
a) To keep using v16.x you must use the 32 bit version of 4D Developer
b) To keep using 64 bit you must upgrade to v16R2 (or higher) to utilize the 64 bit version of 4D Developer
Reminder -
4D Developer Edition and 4D Volume Desktop v16.0 Windows 64-bit are “Preview” versions. Please use them for development purpose only. They are especially delivered to allow plug-in developers to test and adjust their products, as these are the first “Altura-free“ releases. Final and production ready versions are expected to be released with 4D v16 R2 and following R-releases. As a result, Windows 64-bit versions of 4D Developer Edition and 4D Volume Desktop will not be available anymore in future 4D v16.x (such as 16.1/16.2) releases.
