This error message is usually encountered when trying to open a compiled structure file (.4DC) with a newer version of 4D. For example, openning a 4Dv16 compiled structure file with 4Dv17 would cause this error to generate. Compiled structures can only be opened with the same version of 4D they were compiled in.

Only interpreted structure files (.4DB) can be converted to newer versions of 4D. In order to open the compiled structure in a newer version of 4D, first use the interpreted structure file to convert the database to the newer version and then rebuild the compiled structure in that new version.
