Project conversions are a one way operation. When a binary database is converted to a project (.4DProject), the binary structure (.4DB) is left untouched while a new folder named "Project" that contains all the project files is created next to the binary strucuture. The binary and the project versions are independent of one another. Project databases cannot be exported back to a .4DB file.
