Tech Tip: Copying Methods and Forms to another Database
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 18 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: June 3, 2020

One of the differences between developing a project mode database compared to a binary mode database is how methods and forms can be copied from one database to another. In binary mode these things can be done by opening two 4D applications running each of the two databases and then the items can be dragged and dropped from one explorer pane to the other.

With a project mode database this can not be done in the developer environment, however since everything is in a separate flat file, these files can instead be copied from one project's directory to another.

Unfortunately this limitation causes these items to not be abled to be copied from databases of differing modes and will require an alternative way to copy them over, such as exporting the method.
