Tech Tip: When more than one MSC repair is really needed?
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 18 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: December 15, 2020

When in a situation that requires a repair of the data file, please remember to check ther log if anomalies are found:

  1. After the first standard repair, if anomalies are found, open and inspect the log file
  2. Open the log (xml) file in a text editor that allows you to search the contents of the xml file
  3. Search the contents of the xml file for "<error" without quotes, this will search for <error tags> within the xml
  4. If no results are found for "<error" then please search for "<warn" to find all of the warnings next

Basically, if you find error tags within the xml (at step 3) this means there are still errors present and another repair amy be needed.

On the other hand, if you do not find any error tags at step 3 and only find warning tags at step 4 then this means that everything found within the repair operation was fixed. In this situation an additional repair would not be needed and that if you were to run a verify you should see that it is reported to be OK.
