Tech Tip: Keyboard to Select Contextual Menu Item
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 18 R | PLATFORM: Win
Published On: December 28, 2020

On Windows, it is possible to select items on the contextual menu in 4D when a shortcut is not assigned. This is done by pressing the first letter of the item, and if the item is the only one in the menu then it will get selected. If there are other items with the same initial letter, the key will cycle through those items.

This feature can be useful when planning for the new Macro's feature implemented in 4D v18R5. This useful feature can be heavily used and alot of macros may be implemented. If the macros are planned with each having a unique initial letter, or at least the more frequently used macros labeled this way it can make finding and runnng macros alot easier.
