Tech Tip: Where to Provide the directory.json in Project Mode Applications
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 18 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: May 25, 2021
In project mode, users and groups information are stored in the directory.json file. When users and groups are added, 4D creates the directory.json file inside the Settings folder at the same level as the Project folder.
To incorporate users and groups in a built project mode application, this Settings folder (with the directory.json inside) will need to be provided either next to the data file (4DD) or the compressed project file (4DZ). If the Settings folder is found in both locations, the one next to the 4DD will take presedence over the one next to the 4DZ.
Note: In single-user applications built from project mode, the default user will be Designer, even if a directory.json is provided.
