To register a database as a service or create a DSN for an ODBC connection, you will need to have access to a user account with administrator privileges. Here is how you can check to see if your user account has admin rights on Windows 10.
- Open the Control Panel (Click on Windows key and type in 'Control Panel')
- Then click on 'User Accounts' > 'User Accounts'
- The current logged in user account should be displayed here
If the user account has administrator rights, 'Administrator' will be listed under the account name.

If the user account does not have administrator rights, 'Administrator' will not be listed under the account name.
