Tech Tip: Modifying the Publication Name
PRODUCT: 4D Server | VERSION: 19 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: November 8, 2021
A database's publication name can be important for an end user. If the remote connection dialog appears and lists the available servers, the name can help the user confirm and identify the correct server.
The publication name is stored in the database settings.
A way to programatically modify the publication name is to enable the User Settings. The user settings are stored on an external file so when the structure is updated, these Settings will not get overwritten. The user settings file is in an XML format and is saved as .../Settings/settings.4DSettings
The element containing the publication name can be updated programatically, and then the server will require a restart to apply the change.
