Tech Tip: Web Browsers Limit Number of HTTP Redirects

Published On: December 6, 2021
When utilizing HTTP redirects in your 4D web server implementation, keep in mind that each browser has their own maximum redirect limit. When successive redirections reach the limit, the browser may display a "too many redirects" or "redirection loop" error page.
The redirect limit can be changed for some browsers, including Firefox. However, the redirection limit for Chrome is 20 and cannot be changed. The steps to change the redirect limit for each browser can vary.
To change the redirect limit in Firefox:
- Open Firefox and type about:config in the address bar
- Then search for network.http.redirection-limit
- Change the limit
