Tech Tip: “No server was found” error troubleshooting

When trying to connect a 4D remote client to 4D Server, an error message “No server was found” may be encountered. This may appear after manually inputting the network address in the custom dialog box. To troubleshoot this, make sure:

  • The inputted IP address and port number are correct.

  • The port is not currently being used by another application.

  • The remote machine is able detect the the server machine by pinging the server IP address.

  • Firewall settings are not blocking the 4D server application.

  • Additionally, the developer may want to test that the application is able to connect on the same machine.
