When working with an encrypted database, the data key must be provided to “unlock” and perform certain operations on data in encrypted tables. This can be done via entering a passphrase when prompted, providing the passphrase with ds.provideDataKey(), or storing the data key in a .4DKeychain file on the root level of an external device so that 4D can automatically access it when necessary. Note that when doing automatic log file integration with encrypted data, the data key cannot be provided manually by entering a passphrase—a .4DKeychain must be used this situation.
