Tech Tip: Designer will always be default in for single user project mode
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 19 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: August 29, 2023

One main difference between binary and project is the behavior of single user login. In binary, the default user will be based on the database setting and depending on whether that default user has a password, 4D's built-in login screen will appear.

However in project mode, Designer access will take priority of everything else and the Designer user will automatically be logged in without any need for a password. This change means that 4D's built-in login screen will never appear when in single user mode and the current user cannot be changed. At best, SET USER ALIAS can be used if needed to simulate a different logged in user or test the application in client-server mode which still has the normal log in screen.
