In Maintenance and Security Center, there are a few options for compacting records and indexes in “Advanced” mode: “Force updating of the records” and “Compact address table”. The 1st option resaves every single record for each table and updates all of the indexes, while the 2nd option rebuilds the address table entirely. Note that enabling these options can significantly decrease the speed of operations and increase the time to completion, especially when dealing with a large (>20 GB) data file. When using these advanced options with a sizable data file, try to reserve some down time to allow it to complete, while running minimal concurrent processes. It is recommended to perform this task on a computer with a fast speed hard disk.
