Before 4D v11 SQL, 4D Draw was the 4D plugin for generating vector-like drawings. The format generated by 4D Draw was proprietary. It could not be accessed by other applications, besides 4D Draw. When the support of 4D Draw was dropped, SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) was introduced in 4D v11 SQL and 4D v12 (in a form of a component) to provide an alternative drawing feature in 4D that produces a standard format. This technical note discusses the pros and cons of SVG and how to construct, manipulate, and load SVG images inside 4D.
