After compiling a database, an issue can occur where the login dialog is not being displayed and users are able to directly access the database without being authorized. This issue can be caused by the Designer being the default user and not being assigned a password. This is the default setting of 4D and it can be easy to overlook before compiling a database. To check if this is the cause of the issue open up Toolbox.


To fix the issue navigate to Toolbox > Users > Designer > Edit and set a password for the designer and recompile the database. When the database is reopened a login window should be prompted.
