The 4D Remote Client can connect to a server by using the Connection to 4D Server Dialog. This Dialog is opened when selecting Open > Remote Project from the File Menu or the Toolbar.
When the dialog is displayed, it will typically default to either the Recent or the Available Tabs. The Recent Tab list the recent servers that have been succesfully connected to based on the name applied to the connection. The Available tab display a list of servers that are broadcasted and can be found by the remote client based on the publication name of the server from the Database Settings.
While the names can be helpful, it might be more helpful if the IP address of the servers were displayed. This can be done so by utilizing the Custom Tab. When a server is selected from either the Recent or Available tab by highlighting it, then the Custom Tab is selected, the entry fields are automatically populated with the information from the selected server with it's server name and IP address. This can be useful to confirm the IP address of the selected servers. This also allows development mode to be activated or the local resources to be forced to update.
