Tech Tip: Understanding REST Connections and License Consumption with Force Login (20 R5 and later)

Starting from version 20 R5, with the introduction of Force Login, the way REST connections interact with licenses has changed:
With Force Login mode enabled, a 4D Client license is only consumed once a user successfully logs in.
To monitor license consumption, use the license usage command.
It provides a detailed view of both REST and 4D Client license usage, helping you track and optimize your resources efficiently.
- A REST request can create several “users” (visible on the Users page of the Server Administration window).
- However, these connections do not automatically consume 4D Client Expansion licenses.
