Tech Tip: Why Some Classes May Be Disabled in Explorer
PRODUCT: Qodly Studio | VERSION: 20 R | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: September 15, 2025

When developing with 4D Qodly Studio, classes can be created and edited in the Qodly Studio interface, or in 4D design mode. Qodly Studio provides the added benefit of being able to create DataStore, DataClass, Entity and Entity Selection classes more quickly than in design mode.

When a class is created and edited in one interface, the changes are normally updated in the other. For example, if an Entity class is created in Qodly Studio, it will be automatically added in the explorer. When a class is deleted in Qodly Studio, generally the class will not be removed immediately in explorer. Instead, it will become disabled and appear faded.

In the example screenshot above, the "HostsEntity" class was recently deleted in Qodly Studio, but it still appears in the explorer in design mode. Restart the 4D application to completely remove the deleted class from explorer.
