Tech Tip: Windows App Runtime Folders in 4D 21 R2
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 21 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: March 12, 2026
Starting with 4D v21 R2, additional folders may appear in the 4D Volume Desktop directory when building a Windows application. These files belong to the Windows App Runtime, which is required for Fluent UI rendering on Windows.
These files are included automatically when the corresponding module is selected during the build process.
If your application does not use features that rely on Fluent UI, you can deselect the Windows App Runtime module in the Build Application → Plugins and components list to reduce the size of the built application.
