Tech Tip: Reopen database shortcut
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 11 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: December 11, 2009

In 4D 2004, from Design mode, the key combination Ctrl+O then Enter (Win OS) or Cmd+O then Enter (Mac OS) was a shortcut to re-open the current database. This was useful to quickly restart the database so that you could test things like the startup code for a database. The key combination would open the Open database dialog and select the first database in the list (which is the current database that is open).

In 4D v11 SQL, since the Open database dialog is no longer present, this key combination no longer work. But the current database can quickly be re-opened with the new menu option "Restart Interpreted", which also has a shortcut, Ctrl+Alt+I (Win OS) / Cmd+Alt+I (Mac OS).

This shortcut can also be changed by editing the 4DShortcuts.xml file.
